Great Southern Company

Founded in 1971, Great Southern Wood Preserving is a producer of treated lumber and maker of YellaWood brand pressure-treated pines. It has a more than 36-acre facility in Columbus, Texas, with a production of over 240 million board feet. The company provides a wide range of treatment and products, including ammoniacal copper quaternary, chromated copper arsenate, micronized copper quaternary, borates, fire-retardant, plywood, decking specialties, and fence components and panels. Great Southern Wood Preserving has a fleet of more than 280 company-owned trucks and over 550 trailers. It has various manufacturing plants located in Conyers, Ga.; Muscle Shoals and Mobile, Ala.; Sumter County, Fla.; and Columbus, Texas. The company distributes its products throughout the South.
