The Georgetown Police Department preserves peace, protects residents lives and properties and enforces law. It maintains a communication and dispatch center that provides emergency and nonemergency information and communication services to various federal agencies. The department has a detention facility that provides secure and humane confinement services for criminals convicted by the court. The Georgetown Police Department has a victim service unit that provides services to survivors, witnesses and families of victims of death, serious injury, violent crime and natural disaster. The unit provides crisis intervention, court escort, information regarding case status, emotional support, counseling, assistance with victim compensation and criminal justice advocacy services. Located in Georgetown, Texas, the Georgetown Police Department also maintains field operations, support services, training, animal services, crime prevention, and records and crime analysis divisions.
