Galv Scottish Rite Bodies
The Galveston Valley of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, founded in 1867, is the oldest Scottish Rite body in Texas and home to the Mother Consistory of the state. With a rich history and commitment to the principles of Brotherly Love, Tolerance, Charity, and Truth, the Scottish Rite aims to improve its members and enhance the communities they live in through education and the embrace of high social, moral, and spiritual values.
As the "University of Freemasonry," the Scottish Rite offers a range of high degrees that expand upon and elaborate the teachings of the first three degrees. With an active calendar of events, including meetings, reunions, banquets, feasts, and charity functions, the Galveston Valley provides ample opportunities for members to engage and participate. The stunning Galveston Scottish Rite Cathedral, built in 1929 in an Art-Deco style, houses a remarkable research library with an extensive collection of books, periodicals, historical artifacts, and more on Freemasonry and related subjects.
