Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?My mentor, Hyman Zimmerman, MD at George Washington University, inspired me to pursue a career in gastroenterology. At the time I entered medical school, Dr. Zimmerman was a well recognized hepatologist doing clinical research in liver disease. He introduced me to exciting new advances in infectious and drug-induced liver toxicity.Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?I have great interest in the new modalities of treatment for inflammatory bowel disease and infectious liver disease.Where did you study?Undergrad: Long Island University, Masters: Rutgers University, Medical School, Internship and Residency: George Washington University, Gastroenterology Fellowship: University of Colorado.What certifications do you hold?Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?Sailing has been a passion of mine ever since I was introduced to it during my time in DC, when I had access to the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Also, after my fellowship training, I entered the United States Air Force and was transferred to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth.
