Fossil Hunter of Glen Rose - Stone Hut

History

The Stone Hut was built prior to 1928. Mr. Herman Shields cut cedar blocks as house foundations. He had a few coon dogs as well. Old timers say he used the existing building as a distribution for local Moonshine, bars are still on the windows! Scrap metal was found out back possibly from the old stills that were there. Check out these and other local legends on the prohibition era in Somervell county! In 2004 Liz Sherrill, school teacher and local charity organizer, opened it as a Rock and Gift shop. In 2008 Morris Bussey opened it as a Rock and Fossil shop. Morris Bussey is a displaced Cajun grown Cowboy. He loves running the Stone Hut Fossil Shop. Stop by and see what he has, or just to visit.
