History

The First Tee began programming in fall 1999 with 13 boys whose after-school football coach had deserted them. Since that time we have served more than 5,000 young people in the greater Austin area. In April 2005 The First Tee of Greater Austin opened it's classroom the Harvey Penick Golf Campus. Prior to that, The First Tee had delivered after-school programming on school playgrounds and at municipal courses where it rented space. The Harvey Penick Golf Campus is a professionally designed nine-hole course with a three-hole short course, driving range, practice greens and a pavilion available for community use. The First Tee also built six ball fields - three baseball/softball fields and three soccer/football fields - for use by its partner, the East Communities YMCA. A leading The First Tee Chapter, The First Tee of Greater Austin played a significant role in the adoption of The First Tee Life Skills Experience curriculum by The First Tee home office.

Classes full day one of registration. Had a note on calendar & everything. They need to make classes larger or do something for returning students to allow them to get in.

Great learning environment for my son. He has attended the first tee since he was about 4. Excellent, caring instructors. They help develop character on and off the golf course!
