Superior HealthPlan is a health insurance program that provides health care for many Texans. Superior works with the state of Texas s Health and Human Services Commission to bring members the STAR, Children s Health Insurance Program, CHIP Perinatal Care and STAR+PLUS programs in many cities and counties throughout Texas. The company is a subsidiary of Centene Corporation, a multi-line health care enterprise that provides Medicaid and Medicaid-related programs to organizations and individuals through government-subsidized programs, including Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income and the State Children's Health Insurance Program. Community First Health Plans was established in 1995, by the University Health System to provide health care coverage to the citizens of Bexar County, Texas. It is a locally owned and operated, nonprofit health maintenance organization located in San Antonio. The organization is licensed to provide HMO coverage to employer groups that have at least two employees. In partnership with Texas True Choice, it provides preferred provider organization plans to employer groups of two employees and above. It also offers a full range of government products that cover more than 110,000 lives in the south Texas region. Community First Health Plans is a Medicaid managed care program.
