The Young Men's Christian Association was founded in London, England, on June 6, 1844, in response to unhealthy social conditions arising in the big cities at the end of the Industrial Revolution (roughly 1750 to 1850). In Central Texas we started our Chapter in 1885

Helpful, welcoming, friendly staff. At this relaxing, low intensity, low stress friendly YMCA. Could I pick this YMCA and just bring it back to Austin with me? Wish we could do that.

Understaffed, need of renovations, and hygiene was to be questioned. Machines worked functionally and had low adult traffic but did have a lot of kids traffic.
