History

The Dojo in Denton Texas is a coop dedicated to learning and handing down genuine martial arts with their traditional style and content. Founded in 2000 by John Ray and Jack Bieler, it includes Eishin-ryu Iaido, Tomiki-ryu Aikido, Uechi-ryu Karate, and Shindo Muso-ryu Jodo, each taught in the manner and to the standards of our Japanese sensei. Yoga and Tai Chi are also being offered.

Specialties

The Denton Aikido Club and the Texas Jodokai are dedicated to direct transmission of the skills, principles and spirit of our teachers. We train in a safe, non-competitive environment. We do not require contracts, we are not a fight club, we are not a belt factory. We are dedicated to developing effective self-defense, spiritual growth through sincere training, physical and mental fitness, and deep friendships. Anyone can perform these arts, regardless of size, strength or athletic ability. Visitors are always welcome. Please join us!
