Constitutional County Court Judge

The County Judge s office is a part of Commissioners Court, which is operated by the government of the Smith County in Texas. Commissioners Court conducts the general business of the County. The court oversees the construction, maintenance and improvement of the county s roads and bridges. It also oversees formulation of the annual budget and other financial matters. Commissioners Court is responsible for appointing the county s engineer, veteran's service officer, and pre-trial release and personnel directors. The court also approves employment level for the county. It decides the yearly property tax rate and employment and benefit policies. In addition, Commissioners Court provides rural ambulance and fire protection services.
