Community Housing Expansion of Austin (CHEA) is dedicated to creating and sustaining affordable cooperative housing communities in Central Texas. Founded in 2002 by alumni of student cooperatives, CHEA aims to provide cost-effective living options while fostering strong community values for working adults.

Among its notable properties are the Sasona Co-op, which offers opportunities for cooperative living, and the La Reunion Co-op, located in a charming 1960s apartment building featuring a courtyard garden. Residents at La Reunion share communal meals and social activities, enhancing their sense of community while maintaining their private living spaces.
