Centennial House, also known as the Britton-Evans House, has a rich history dating back to its construction in 1849 by Rebecca and Forbes Britton on land acquired from Col. Henry Kinney, the founder of Corpus Christi.
Throughout the years, Centennial House has served various purposes, including functioning as a hospital during the Yellow Fever epidemic and later as a hospital and officers' mess hall for the Federal Army in 1866. Acquired by the Corpus Christi Area Heritage Society in 1964, the house was meticulously restored and transformed into a House Museum for visitors to explore and appreciate its historical significance.
