Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge, established in 2000, spans portions of the Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant in Harrison County, Texas, covering approximately 8,500 acres. The refuge is dedicated to the management, conservation, and protection of migratory birds and other wildlife species within its bottomland hardwood forest ecosystem.
Home to rare and threatened species such as the peregrine falcon and alligator snapping turtle, Caddo Lake provides vital habitat for diverse wildlife, including wood ducks, prothonotary warblers, and a variety of fish species.
