The Bandera General Store, a historic establishment built in 1907, showcases its rich past with original wood floors and a unique tin tile ceiling, serving various roles throughout its lifetime, including a saddle shop and movie theater. Now, it features a vintage soda fountain, one of only 11 fully operational from the 1950s in Texas, where patrons can enjoy delicious treats made with Blue Bell Ice Cream.
In addition to its nostalgic offerings, the store serves as the only bookstore in town, providing a selection of modern fiction, biographies, and local history, alongside a wide variety of locally made jams, jellies, and hot sauces. Suggested to us by the Sugar and Spice Ranch, I would not have even thought of stopping. You can't not come to Bandera and skip this gift shop. They have everything when it comes to souvenirs....
