Baccus Cemetery, located in Plano, Texas, has its roots in the mid-19th century, established by Henry Cook, a veteran of The War of 1812, who began using the site as a family burial ground in 1847. The cemetery, which was named in honor of Cook's daughter, Rachel Cook Baccus, around 1915, continues to serve the community today.
Originally part of the Peters Colony, the site was also the location of Cook's log house, a historical landmark on the Shawnee Trail, and included land donated for the Baccus Christian Church Sanctuary, which was disbanded in the 1930s. Baccus Cemetery remains an active resting place, reflecting the area's rich history.
