We begin by providing plenty of one-on-one time between the patient and each key member of our staff. Our office utilizes the most current medical knowledge, state-of-the-art equipment, the highest quality eyewear, and technologically advanced contact lenses. We believe that each patient should have access to comprehensive eye care in our office, that we should provide products that work to prevent eye disease and injury, and that we should provide distinctive and attractive eyewear. About the Doctor Dr. Ellen Pearman Crothers grew up in East Texas. She was the valedictorian of the graduating class of 1994 at Alto High School. Ellen moved to Austin in August of 1994 to attend the University of Texas. She graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1998. She attended optometry school at the University of Houston College of Optometry where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2002 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Ellen was awarded 2 Clinical Letters of Excellence and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Crothers completed two internships before graduation. The first was located the Montrose Clinic, an HIV/AIDS facility in Houston. Dr. Crothers gained experience examining and treating the eyes of patients with AIDS. She finished her 2nd internship in Austin, where she spent time in the offices of several specialists, including a pediatric ophthalmologist, retinal specialist, cataract surgeon, the School for the Blind, and a LASIK facility. Dr. Crothers is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, the InfantSee Program, the Prevent Blindness Organization, and the Central Texas Optometric Society. Ellen and Frank Crothers met as college students in 1997. They married in 1999. Frank started working as an optician in 1996, and he became an optical manager in 1998.
