E.H. (Mac) Andrews, a native of Borger, Texas, graduated from Texas Tech in 1952. After working for General Electric Supply Company selling appliances to retail dealers, he created the business by opening Mac Andrews Appliances at 1441 South First in Abilene in 1955. In 1957 furniture was added to the inventory of home appliances and electronics. The business grew and expanded into the adjoining buildings at the South First St. location. In 1965 the name of the business was changed to Andrews Furniture Company. A second store at 2300 North First as opened in 1977. The 2666 Industrial location was purchased in 1991 from Britain’s Furniture and the South First location was closed. The 2666 Industrial location closed after a fire in 2006.
