West Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge Complex
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is dedicated to the conservation, protection, and enhancement of fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the benefit of current and future generations. With over 560 National Wildlife Refuges and 70 national fish hatcheries, the agency employs nearly 8,000 staff to oversee a wide range of conservation initiatives and manage public trust resources.
Established in 1871, USFWS plays a vital role in addressing contemporary conservation challenges, including invasive species management and habitat conservation. The agency encourages public involvement through educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and initiatives such as purchasing duck stamps to support bird habitat preservation.
