Established in 1970 by the Appalachian Regional Commission, Clover Fork Clinic offers a range of health care services. The clinic provides a variety of dental, medical and pharmacy services. It offers diet counseling, preventive examination, laboratory testing and family planning services. The clinic also provides restorative care, maintenance and drug counseling services. Clover Fork Clinic offers diagnosis and treatment options for respiratory, ear and urinary tract infections. The clinic manages a staff of housekeepers, receptionists, laboratory technicians, physicians, nurses and support personnel. Ashe Memorial Hospital is a 76-bed hospital provides comprehensive health care services to residents in western North Carolina. Ashe Memorial is a full-service hospital that offers: laparoscopic, general and orthopedic surgery; complete eye care, including cataract treatment; diagnostic imaging; pediatric medicine; cardiopulmonary therapy and testing; nutritional counseling; lifeline emergency response program; endoscopy; magnetic resonance imaging; ultrasound; physical therapy; obstetrics; mammography; and a 24-hour emergency room. Its staff includes three general surgeons, seven family practitioners, one general practitioner, one internist and one pediatrician. Its Mountain Hearts wellness and cardiac rehabilitation center includes a therapeutic swimming pool. Ashe Memorial was opened in 1941 and is located in Jefferson, N.C.
