The Cooper-Young Community Association (CYCA) is a grassroots, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that has been actively involved in revitalizing the urban area of Memphis since its establishment in 1977. Through various projects, such as neighborhood watch initiatives and the redevelopment of key locations, including the Cooper Street and Young Avenue corner, the CYCA has played a vital role in preserving and enhancing the community. Supported by events like the annual Cooper-Young Festival Friday 4-Miler and Beerfest, as well as membership dues and donations, the CYCA continues to make a positive impact with the help of its dedicated volunteers and staff. As a fully registered and recognized nonprofit 501(c)(3), the CYCA is committed to maintaining the neighborhood's charm and character. The organization publishes a monthly community newspaper, The Lamplighter, which is hand-delivered to every residence within the area.
