Family-run since 1953, this quaint inn is only 1 mile from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park boundary, making it one of the closest hotels to Cades Cove historic settlement. It is a 5 minute walk to the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center next door, 1.5 miles to Little River Railroad/Lumber Museum, and 4.7 miles to Tuckaleechee Caverns. With Little River and a public bike path running the entire length, Townsend is never short on natural fun. The charming "Original Eight" rooms, built in the 1950's, have Craftsman-style furnishings, and real and reproduction antiques. The newer Deluxe rooms have private balconies or porches, and are equipped with microwaves and mini-fridges. All rooms have TV's and coffeemakers.
