The Smith County Quilt Trail is a joint project of the Smith County office of the University of Tennessee Extension and the Smith County Chamber of Commerce, showcasing the rich heritage and beauty of Smith County, Tennessee. With its origins in 2011, the trail features 20 lovingly painted quilts displayed on barns and businesses throughout the county, with more quilts continuously being added. Nestled in the hills of Middle Tennessee, Smith County is renowned for its outstanding trout fishing on the Caney Fork River and is home to the oldest house in Middle Tennessee, Dixona, where King Louis XIV once stayed during his journey through America in the 1700s.
