The professional NCEA Certified status is awarded to a skin care professional that has met the competency standards as set-forth by NCEA's 1, 200 Hour Esthetician Job Task Analysis, which was developed by the NCEA to raise the educational and skill-set requirements for today's skin care professionals. The national examination was developed using Subject Matter Experts from across the United States. It represents the highest skin care credential available in the United States and adheres to the Code of Ethics of the profession. As an NCEA Certified Professional, Mona Sappenfield, An Robinson, and Valeria Donovan have mastered the Scientific Concepts of Skin Infection Control Procedures, Advanced Knowledge of Human Physiology and Anatomy, Skin Conditions and Disorders, Risk Management, Business of Skin Care, Dermatologist and Plastic Surgery Medical Interaction and Advanced Facial and Body Treatments. Additionally, the first certified Aesthetician group in Tennessee demonstrated theoretical understanding of Electricity and the Use of Various Electrical Equipment, within Tennessee's scope of practice. During the application process to take the National NCEA Certification Examination, each Aesthetician met the NCEA Candidate Requirements including: verification of licensure, professional skin care experience, liability insurance documentation and additional certifications including First Aid, CPR, and AED.
