The Cornelia Crenshaw Memorial Library, originally established as the Vance Library in 1939, was the first dedicated library serving the African American community in Memphis. After a fire destroyed the original building in 1978, it was rebuilt on its current site in 1981 and renamed in honor of community activist Cornelia Crenshaw in 1997.
Spanning 6,690 square feet, the library houses approximately 20,000 books and various other items, providing valuable resources and services to its patrons. It actively engages the community through events, educational programs, and partnerships, fostering a love for reading and lifelong learning.
