The Mountain States Foundation supports various health care programs and services provided by the Mountain States Health Alliance. The foundation provides financial support for health care services and programs. It supports development of a children s hospital through gifts and grants to support buildings, equipment and services. The foundation also maintains a health care curriculum for more than 25 elementary schools in the region. Its Growing Healthy program serves more than 7,000 students in kindergarten through fourth grade and helps students develop healthy habits at an early age. The foundation s hospice care service team includes nurses, doctors, social workers, home health aides and chaplains. It has a 30-plus-bed intensive care unit that serves as the regional referral center for the Northeast Tennessee Perinatal Center. The Mountain States Foundation is located in Johnson City, Tenn.
