Unemployment Insurance Division

The Unemployment Insurance Division, a part of the South Dakota Department of Labor, provides financial assistance services for individuals who have lost their jobs. Its program is financed by employers through payroll taxes. The division offers services through unemployment insurance benefits, unemployment insurance tax sections. The Unemployment Insurance Division s reporting center collects reports of newly hired employees. Its Unemployment Insurance Overpayment and Fraud Unit promotes program integrity through the prevention, detection, investigation, recovery and prosecution of overpayments and fraud. The South Dakota Department of Labor operates employment security and workforce investment act divisons.
