O'Harra Stadium
O'Harra Stadium in Rapid City, SD is a historic sports facility that has been serving the university and local schools for over 77 years. Named in honor of former president Dr. Cleophas O Harra, the stadium and track were dedicated in 1938 and have since become an integral part of the athletic program at South Dakota Mines. The stadium features a unique horseshoe bowl design, with terraces and ample parking spaces for spectators to enjoy various sports events.
Thanks to the vision and perseverance of Dr. O Harra, the stadium was built with the help of the Works Project Administration and fundraising efforts by the SDSM T Alumni Association. The stadium site was carefully prepared, with good soil brought in and slag used to fill the excavation site. Today, O'Harra Stadium continues to host a range of athletic events, providing a memorable experience for both athletes and spectators.
