We're the only visitor center and museum dedicated to telling the story of America's National Grasslands, and we're free of charge. Inside, discover deeply-rooted prairie ecosystems and communities from Illinois to Idaho, northern Texas to North Dakota. Exhibits, films, and ranger-led programs explore the unique natural and cultural heritage of North America's grassland regions. Rangers also provide information about recreation opportunities on the Buffalo Gap National Grassland and adjacent public lands, including Badlands National Park. Outside, wander our Living Landscape, which replicates a slice of native prairie, or take in a ranger-led Patio Talk. The young and young-at-heart are invited to become Grasslands Junior Rangers - and don't forget to stamp your park passport!

Informative. Several maps and local guides available, potable water and bathrooms. A "patio talk" twice a day and upon request during this summer season, a film and please-touch gallery
