Located 27 miles west of Sioux Falls, Lake Vermillion Recreation Area is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and swimming, thanks to its clear waters and abundant fish. Sportsmen can also enjoy waterfowl and upland game hunting in the surrounding area during the fall.
This 512-acre reservoir was created in 1958 by impounding waters from the east fork of the Vermillion River. The park offers various activities such as biking, birdwatching, hiking, kayaking, picnicking, snowshoeing, and volleyball. With three campgrounds, 130 campsites, and 9 camping cabins, Lake Vermillion Recreation Area provides ample opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the natural beauty of South Dakota.

I'm here right now! Nice park, well kept and pretty views by the lake. Lots of short hiking opportunities and a chance to catch some wild life in action!

Excellent campground. Well maintained, close to the lake and swimming access. Full hookups for RVs and plenty of shade trees.
