The Historic Homestake Opera House, built in 1914 by Phoebe Hearst and the Homestake Gold Mining Company, served as a vibrant performing arts venue and community recreation center in Lead, South Dakota, featuring a grand theater, library, bowling alley, billiards hall, social hall, and a heated indoor swimming pool. After a tragic fire in 1984, the Opera House transitioned to focus primarily on its theater, while other facilities now host the Lead-Deadwood Arts Center and an indoor shooting range.
