All our experience contributes to our expertise in assisting with any type of foundation or earth retention or earth strengthening problem, or slab problem -- whether assisting to solve an existing problem with a foundation or wall or slab or developing new construction in problematic situations.Richard Burd formed Burd Contracting in 1965 in Vermillion, South Dakota, with remodeling and concrete construction projects. In 1968, Burd Contracting built its first home. Growing success lead to a move to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We continued to build homes and do flat concrete work until 1976 when we added a full set of aluminum forms for poured concrete foundations. While expanding our concrete foundation work, we continued to build homes and apartment buildings. In 1986, we began to provide mudjacking services, raising settled slabs of concrete. By 1988, the foundation division and slab jacking required all our resources.By 1993, we had been installing poured concrete foundations for 17 years under diverse soil and site conditions. And we were raising failed and settled concrete slabs. We began to get calls asking for our expertise to determine the cause of distressed foundations and retaining walls and to assist in efforts to stabilize and uplift them. This led Burd Contracting Inc to the A.B. Chance Company's system of pre-engineered and manufactured helical anchors. CHANCE is the only company with a pre-engineered and manufactured underpinning system evaluated and listed by all the national building code agencies.As our history shows, we are familiar with all phases of the construction industry.
