Cheyenne River Family Violence
Cheyenne River Indian Outreach (CRIO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating violence and oppressive practices by supporting and empowering individuals, families, and communities in the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation area of South Dakota. Founded in 1982 by the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, CRIO upholds the vision of its founder, Fr. Leo John Dehon, by providing essential services to Native American people living in one of the five poorest counties in America.
With a mission to promote justice, social change, and non-violence, CRIO works tirelessly to address the high levels of poverty and unemployment in the region. Located in Eagle Butte, the largest town on the reservation, CRIO serves as a beacon of hope, offering outreach programs, child services, and a thrift store to create a safe and positive environment for the community.
