Upper Mill Plantation, located along the Waccamaw River in Horry County, South Carolina, is historically significant as the site of the first steam-operated lumber mill in the state. Established in 1828 by Captain Henry Buck, the plantation produced cypress and pine that were shipped worldwide and has remained within the Buck family for generations.

Spanning 9,000 acres in 1860, the plantation was known for its primary crops of cotton, rice, sweet potatoes, and Indian corn. Today, it serves as a special event site, preserving its historical structures, including the plantation house, commissary, and mill chimney.
