Unit 1a Franke Building
The Franke Building, located at the northwest corner of Market and Church Streets in Charleston, SC, is a notable example of early-twentieth century industrial architecture. Originally constructed in 1909 as a manufacturing and storage facility for a carriage company founded by C. D. Franke, it has since been rehabilitated into a vibrant office complex.
Throughout its history, the Franke Building has witnessed the transition from carriage manufacturing to auto parts production before its closing in 1981. Today, it stands as one of the few remaining symbols of the industrial heritage of the Market Street area prior to World War II, offering large, beautiful office spaces in historic downtown Charleston.
