I was always interested in science and medicine, but my passion for women's health really grew in medical school. Supporting a woman through childbirth will always be an amazing experience for everyone involved. \n As an OB-GYN hospitalist, I am fully dedicated to caring for patients in the hospital setting. That's where I spend 100% of my workday (and nights), which means I'm always available to provide safe, high-quality care to expectant moms. I help pregnant women through emergency care, labor and delivery and postpartum recovery. When needed, I also perform emergency gynecological surgery. \n I'm proud to be a member of the OB Safety Committee at Novant Health Hilton Head Medical Center. Our team is on a mission to reduce preventable maternal mortality. I'm also proud that during my residency, I was recognized by American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists for Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. \n I was born and raised on Hilton Head Island. (Yes, the vacation paradise does have full-time residents.) In my spare time, I love running - or just being - on the beach and traveling with family.

Sometimes, the most rewarding conversation with your surgeon is one in which you are reassured that no operation is necessary. Sometimes, however, surgery can be a valuable part of a treatment plan to help you achieve your health goals. Throughout medical school and a general surgery residency, I learned the impact surgical treatment can have on patients. Specifically, I saw the great benefits of minimally invasive surgery, and have made that a focus of my career. \n Minimally invasive surgery with robotic laparoscopy decreases discomfort after surgery, and leads to shorter hospital stays and recovery times as compare to traditional surgery methods. Many of the operations we used to do with large abdominal incisions are now routinely completed using robotic techniques with tiny incisions. \n I am a Fellow of the American College of Surgery and a member of the American Hernia Society, and I remain continuously certified by the American Board of Surgery. I believe every patient deserves an accurate assessment of their condition and an honest review of treatment options. I want you to have all of your questions answered before choosing the best course of treatment for you. \n Before moving to coastal South Carolina, my family and I lived in Charlotte, where I helped to build one of the largest general surgery groups in the southeastern United States. We are all happy to be living in the Lowcountry and I am thrilled to be bringing quality surgical care to our community.
