I was always interested in science and medicine, but my passion for women's health really grew in medical school. Supporting a woman through childbirth will always be an amazing experience for everyone involved. \n As an OB-GYN hospitalist, I am fully dedicated to caring for patients in the hospital setting. That's where I spend 100% of my workday (and nights), which means I'm always available to provide safe, high-quality care to expectant moms. I help pregnant women through emergency care, labor and delivery and postpartum recovery. When needed, I also perform emergency gynecological surgery. \n I'm proud to be a member of the OB Safety Committee at Novant Health Hilton Head Medical Center. Our team is on a mission to reduce preventable maternal mortality. I'm also proud that during my residency, I was recognized by American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists for Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. \n I was born and raised on Hilton Head Island. (Yes, the vacation paradise does have full-time residents.) In my spare time, I love running - or just being - on the beach and traveling with family.

Advanced practice nursing was a natural fit for me, as I've always loved science and helping people. In addition, an early mentor, a doctor I worked with, inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare. \n Being bilingual - I'm fluent in Spanish - helps me communicate with a broad cross-section of the population. Since 2001, I've worked in outpatient settings with diverse populations. I care deeply about my patients and feel that listening to - and understanding - their concerns is crucial to providing them with the best care. \n I am a board-certified women's health NP with a special interest in high-risk pregnancy, obstetrics and preventive gynecology. \n I was born in Cuba and came to the U.S. as a child. I grew up in a Boston suburb and attended nursing school - and later NP school at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston before finally escaping New England winters by moving to South Carolina in 2017. \n I'm a proud board member of the South Carolina Nurse Retention Initiative, and a member of The Aassociation of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. I've been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nursing, and Iota Eta Pi Nursing Honor Society. \n I was honored to be a speaker/presenter for a national conference in Las Vegas in 2010. Presenting Increasing Diversity in Nursing to a national audience was entirely my pleasure. \n When not serving my patients, I enjoy spending time with my husband, adult children and precious grandkids. My hobbies include biking, pickleball and traveling with family.
