Conveniently located along Highway 17, behind The Market at Oakland shopping center in north Mount Pleasant, our health care team provides high-quality, Family Medicine, 5 yrs and older, and Internal Medicine for patients ages 18 and older. We are proud to offer thorough, accessible, and complete medical care for acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and preventive health maintenance – as well as access to any MUSC Health specialists needed.

Larry Gene Padget, Jr, MD

Dr. Larry Padget is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He provides comprehensive primary care to all ages and seeks to be a trusted resource for people of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, genders, and sexual orientations. Dr. Padget earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. After graduating, he was commissioned into the U.S. Navy, where he completed his internship at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He trained as a naval flight surgeon and was deployed with a Marine Helicopter Squadron deployed to Japan and South Korea. Dr. Padget completed his family practice residency at Scott & White in Temple, TX. Before joining MUSC, Dr. Padget served as a Regional Medical Officer with the U.S. State Department, providing clinical care at American embassies in Beijing, Moscow, London, Doha, and Vienna. In this role, he delivered high-quality primary and preventive care to U.S. diplomats and their families, supervised staff, directed clinical operations across large regions, and engaged with international audiences to promote global peace and prosperity. Dr. Padget also served as the Chief Medical Officer for the State Department and as the senior medical advisor to the Secretary of State during the Covid-19 pandemic. With extensive clinical experience in over 32 countries, Dr. Padget brings a wealth of expertise in international and travel medicine, complementing his proficiency in primary care.
