My mom tried for three years to get pregnant before seeing a fertility specialist who put her on hormones and led to her getting pregnant...with triplet girls! \n My sisters and I were born at 28 weeks and spent three months in the neonatal ICU. For as long as I can remember, I've known I wanted to be a NICU nurse. Working in that field helped me realize that I love taking care of infants - and I also love working with their moms. I returned to school to become a women's health nurse practitioner (WHNP). \n Throughout my career, I've been blessed to develop relationships with moms going through some of the most difficult times in their lives. I've learned to be an active listener and to be gentle when having a tough conversation. My background in neonatology has proven useful when I've had to have those conversations about medically complex care. \n I approach every patient interaction with compassion and empathy. Patients trust us - their healthcare providers - to provide them with the resources they need to start a family, for birth control options, health screenings and more. They are sometimes at their most vulnerable inside a doctor's office, and I work hard to earn the trust of every patient I see. \n My membership in the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health gives me access to the latest guidelines and recommendations for women's healthcare. Staying current on medical advances is important, and I do that through memberships in relevant groups and by attending conferences. \n I moved to Charleston in 2020 and take full advantage of living in a historic city on the coast. On my days off, I'm often on the beach with a good book or exploring all the art and history this city offers. My house in Summerville has a big backyard, which is perfect for my dog, Willow. My hobbies include baking, walking and travel. I'm an avid reader and writer and aspire to write a book one day. I have visited 28 of America's 50 states and am always dreaming up my next trip. Ireland is at the top of the list.

Ever since my high school anatomy class, I knew I loved science. To make it a career I would enjoy, I knew I would need to find a way to blend science with my love for interacting with and getting to know people. I see medicine as the ultimate intersection of science and interpersonal relationships; and I see primary care as a way to carry those relationships through so many of my patients' life stages. This long-term continuity allows me and my patients to build trust and allows me to get to know my patients' interests, priorities, and passions beyond their medical care. Throughout physician assistant school, I was always more interested in learning how to prevent patients from developing illnesses and how a holistic approach can be useful in achieving better health. I have been fortunate to see firsthand how changes in diet, exercise, and mental health can impact a person's well-being. Much of medicine is reactionary, but I love primary care because we have a chance to alter the trajectory of patients' health by preventing disease and complications. As a board-certified physician assistant, I work hard to truly listen to my patients, understand their concerns, and help them be a part of deciding what modifications will work for them. Some particular interests of mine outside of preventive care include women's health, mental health, and managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. I especially enjoy helping people quit smoking, which was the focus of my master's thesis. I grew up near Boston, Massachusetts, but I fell in love with South Carolina while attending the University of South Carolina. I am now a huge Gamecocks fan, and love college and professional football. I have golfed since childhood, and I'm eager to check out all the amazing courses Charleston has to offer. Running, reading, and spending time with family and friends up and down the East Coast are also passions of mine.
