Lacey Carter, MD, is a fellowship-trained pediatric neurosurgeon specializing in hydrocephalus, spina bifida, craniosynostosis, Chiari malformations, pediatric neurotrauma, and other congenital abnormalities of the brain and spinal cord. Dr. Carter serves as the division chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Prisma Health in the Upstate. Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, she attended N.C. State University in Raleigh, earning a bachelor’s degree with a major in human biology before obtaining her medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honors Medical Society. She then completed her neurosurgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City before returning to the Southeast to finish her training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, with a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship. Dr. Carter strives to help her patients get back to their regular activities as quickly and safely as possible. In her free time, she likes to build Legos, play video games, watch college football, and spend time around Greenville with her husband and son.

Dr Stephenson came back to South Carolina taking a position at the Cancer Center of the Carolinas (CCC) in 2000. He served as president of the joint Policy Board for CCC from 2003-2005. Dr. Stephenson is the co-founder of the Prisma Health Institute for Translational Oncology Research (ITOR), a major pillar of cancer research at Prisma Health that includes a Phase I Clinical Research Unit and a Biorepository Services platform. Dr. Stephenson was honored to serve as an advisor to the President Bushs Cancer Panel on Translational Oncology.Dr Stephenson is passionate about delivering holistic and individualized care to each patient. He is a champion for breast cancer prevention and an advocate for improving cancer surveillance for cancer survivors and community screening. Dr Stephenson and his wife Nancy reside in Greenville, SC with their Saint Bernard, Carly. He has two adult sons, Joe, and Connor, both pursuing medical careers. He enjoys working outdoors, fly fishing, and reading about history. He is a big fan of Abe Lincoln.
