Historic Mirmow Field
Mirmow Field is a historic baseball stadium located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Built in 1948, it has served as the home field for various teams including the semi-pro Orangeburg Braves, American Legion Post 4, and high school teams. The stadium has also been used for spring training by the Binghamton Triplets of the Eastern League. Despite its age, Mirmow Field received a major upgrade in 1996 when it was featured in the motion picture "Major League Back to the Minors." With its wooden grandstand, wooden bleacher seating, and small press box, Mirmow Field offers a nostalgic atmosphere for baseball fans.
The stadium is currently home to the Claflin University baseball team and is one of the few programs in its conference that plays in an actual ballpark. Located about a mile and a half from campus, Mirmow Field serves as a recruitment tool for student-athletes who want to play in a traditional baseball stadium. The stadium offers a small concession stand with a selection of food items, including the popular fried bologna sandwich. While alcohol is not permitted inside the facility, fans can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the games and may even catch a glimpse of a passing train behind the outfield walls.
