Dr. Harsha Karanchi is an endocrinologist at MUSC. He joined as an assistant professor in the Division of Endocrinology in 2018. He graduated from medical school in India and subsequently pursued residency in internal medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas. He completed fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at St. Louis University School of Medicine, Missouri, and then served as faculty at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, for three years before moving to Charleston.Dr. Karanchi is board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. As a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and American Board of Clinical Lipidology, he is a certified obesity medicine specialist and lipidologist. He is a member of The Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association, and was inducted as a Fellow by the American College of Endocrinology in 2018. He received an employee appreciation award -the Shining Star 2017- for outstanding service while faculty at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He was promoted to associate professor at MUSC in 2021.Dr. Karanchi is interested in helping patients manage obesity, metabolic syndrome, and prevent diabetes and complications. His clinical practice focuses on weight management and diabetes.Dr. Karanchi is committed to providing comprehensive quality care and emphasizes patient education. Dr. Samyukta Bhattarai is a dedicated and compassionate physician. She recently completed her third year as a Family Medicine resident at McLaren Flint Family Medicine Residency Center in Flint, Michigan. She is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care and has developed a broad range of skills through her diverse medical experiences.Dr. Bhattarai earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Nepal Medical College in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her medical journey began there, where she laid a solid foundation in general medicine before expanding her expertise globally.As a Family Medicine resident, Dr. Bhattarai focused on providing holistic care to patients, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs. Her residency at McLaren Flint allowed her to integrate her extensive training and experiences into practical, everyday patient care.Dr. Bhattarai aims to continue her work in family medicine, and she is particularly interested in integrating mental health care into primary care settings.
