Gold Bug Island is home to the East Cooper Outboard Motor Club (ECOMC), which was established over 50 years ago to provide a boat landing for residents of East Cooper. The club has since evolved to offer boating safety education, promote fishing conservation, and foster community fellowship through various events and activities.
ECOMC is dedicated to serving the interests of boat owners while actively contributing to local charitable organizations and providing scholarships for needy students. Through its clubhouse and community initiatives, the club has been a vital part of the East Cooper community since 1956.
