History

Harris Carpets got it's start in 1947 out of the Bailes Department store by Thomas Bailes. In 1956 the carpet department was moved into a stand alone business and given the name Harris Carpets & Vinyl. In 1979 the business was passed down to the daughter of Tom Bailes where she continued as owner until 1996. Essie Junkins, Tom Bailes' grandaughter, purchased the business in 1996, keeping the business in the family for 3 generations. Her husband, Mike Junkins, and sons Scott and Russell, joined her in running the business, expanding to a new facility in 2008. We now employ more than 17 people to serve homeowners, builders, and property management firms throughout Upstate South Carolina, Northeast Georgia, and Western North Carolina.
