Established as a summer program in 1980, South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities is an educational institution that offers classes in performing arts for more than 230 students. It enrolls students in grades 11 and 12, as well as students in grades 9 and 10 who are exceptionally gifted in dance and music. South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities students meet the English, language arts and mathematics proficiency requirements of the United States Department of Education.
