Charleston Hardware Company began in 1999 with antique hardware sales and restoration. Our customers often requested large numbers of matching pieces so we began collecting original antique patterns and in 2003 we began reproducing them utilizing the same techniques from over 100 years ago. We analyzed the metal content of the originals and produce our hardware in matching materials of hand wrought iron and cast brass, bronze, and iron. We have four foundries, a lock maker, a glass maker, a ceramics maker and plater. After the Historic Charleston Foundation reviewed our reproductions, we were selected to be the official licensee for their hardware line.We work with architects, builders, designers, and homeowners. We reproduce antique hardware for restoration projects. We provide assistance in hardware selection, design and installation of antique hardware.Our inventory of antique hardware is constantly changing. If you are trying to locate a matching piece, send us an email with the picture and we will check our stockroom. We have many pieces that are not listed on the website.We also offer antique hardware restoration including: stripping paint, cleaning, polishing, re-plating and repairing and re-keying locks. We also stock spindles, set screws, and all the parts and pieces needed to restore an old house.
