Capitol Places was formed in 1998 for the purpose of developing, renting and managing apartments in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. At that time, analysis showed that Columbia's 72,000 person downtown work-force, and particularly the portion of those that lived in greater Columbia's 28,000 apartments, had limited choices for downtown living.

Capitol Places aims to provide for a niche market who wishes to have a simpler life. We make it simple by providing apartments that are within walking distance to the Downtown Business District, Columbia's Arts and Entertainment District - The Vista and the University of South Carolina.
