Auldbrass Plantation
Auldbrass Plantation, designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright for Michigan industrialist C. Leigh Stevens, is a remarkable example of organic architecture that reflects contemporary use while embracing its southern roots. This expansive residential project, completed in 1987, comprises a main house, guest house, and various cabins, all linked by esplanades and showcasing Wright's trademark pagoda-like spires and hexagonal motifs.
Located on a 4,000-acre tract along the Combahee River, Auldbrass stands as one of Wright's largest and most complex undertakings, though only half of the original plans were realized due to the deaths of both Wright and Stevens. Following a period of disrepair, the plantation was meticulously restored by Hollywood producer Joel Silver and architect Eric Lloyd Wright, ensuring the legacy of this architectural masterpiece endures.
