Alternative Educational Services

Irmo High School operates under the School District 5 of Lexington and Richland Counties. It offers classes from grades nine through 12 and enrolls more than 1,800 students every year. The school provides a wide range of educational programs in various subjects, including sociology, biology, chemistry, music, physics, mathematics and physical education. Irmo High School also provides a variety of services and facilities for students, such as scholarships, athletic events, debates and writing competitions and career counseling service. The school organizes several external visits and trips for students. School District 5 of Lexington and Richland Counties also operates other schools, including Ballentine Elementary School, Chapin Elementary School, Dutch Fork Middle School and Lake Murray Elementary School.

Glenforest School is private, nonprofit, day school for students with learning differences and focusing issues. It conducts classes for students in kindergarten through grade 12. The school assists children in reading and math remediation, regaining confidence, and learning strategies to help them return to their public school. Glenforest School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). It supports Project Read, which is a multisensory, sequential, direct concept method of teaching reading and writing, as well as administers an after-school program. The school s academic curriculum includes chemistry, algebra, language arts, math, social studies, music, science, computer education, biology, English, history and geography. Located in West Columbia, S.C. Glenforest School was founded in 1983.

H.E. Corley Elementary School offers educational programs to students in kindergarten through grade five. The school provides academic programs in various subjects, including reading, writing, English, math, science, social studies and physical education. H.E. Corley Elementary School offers various educational programs for students with emotional and physical disabilities. The school also offers a special program for gifted and talented students. In addition, the school provides before- and after-school programs. The school offers a range of sports activities, such as soccer, football, track, basketball, baseball and softball. H.E. Corley Elementary School is a part of School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties and is located in Irmo, S.C.
