Heather has managed a wide range of cognitive and neurological conditions, including administering and analyzing cognitive tests, formulating diagnoses, and overseeing diagnostic tests. Her expertise spans various neurological disorders such as headaches, stroke follow-up, sleep apnea, and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Robbie D. Buechler, M.D., Ph.D., is a distinguished neurologist and sleep medicine specialist with extensive clinical practice and research expertise. Dr. Buechler's journey in medicine began with a Bachelor of Science degree with High Honors in Biochemistry and a near double major in Philosophy from the University of California at San Diego. He then pursued his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmacology and Molecular Biology at Chicago, focusing on the effects of cholesterol agents on cholesterol metabolism and cellular growth and carcinogenesis. Building on this foundation, he earned his M.D. from Chicago Medical School. Following his education, Dr. Buechler completed various residencies and fellowships, including Neurology Residency and Chief Neurology Residency at Duke University Medical Center, and fellowships in Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine at Mayo Clinic, MN. He is board-certified in Sleep Medicine, Clinical Neurophysiology/Epilepsy, and Psychiatry/Neurology. Currently, Dr. Buechler serves as the Chief of Neurology for both inpatient and outpatient care at MUSC Health Lancaster, where he also holds the position of Stroke Director and Medical Director of the Sleep Laboratory. Throughout his career, Dr. Buechler has held numerous leadership roles and contributed significantly to medical education as a supervisor and trainer for physician extenders and participating in various institutional committees. Dr. Buechler's professional contributions extend beyond clinical practice. He has been actively involved in research, participating in multiple clinical trials and studies focusing on neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and sleep disorders. His research has resulted in numerous publications and presentations, demonstrating his commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care. Recognized for his expertise and compassionate care, Dr. Buechler has received several awards and honors throughout his career, including being named "Most Compassionate Doctor" and "South Carolina's Favorite Physician" by patient choice associations. Dr. Darniya Belton, M.D., F.A.A.P., currently serves as a Pediatrician at MUSC Children's Health Pediatrics-Lancaster, providing compassionate and comprehensive care to children of all ages. Renowned for her expertise in pediatric medicine, Dr. Belton boasts a robust educational background and extensive professional experience, exemplifying a steadfast commitment to excellence in health care. Dr. Belton earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed her Pediatric Internship and Residency at Texas Children's Hospital and Ben Taub General Hospital. Prior to her medical studies, she graduated Summa cum laude as Salutatorian from Johnson C. Smith University's Honors College in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Belton has held various esteemed positions, including Pediatrician at Lancaster Pediatrics, Madison Valley Pediatrics in Madison, Alabama, and Decatur Primary Care and Pediatrics in Decatur, Alabama. In each role, she provided exceptional inpatient and outpatient pediatric care, including Pediatric ER call coverage, Level 2 Nursery care, and attendance at C-section/high-risk deliveries. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Belton has actively contributed to advancing pediatric medicine through participation in research programs such as the Minority International Research Training Program at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia, and the Minority Access to Research Careers Program at Johnson C.
