William Gyles Guesthouse, formerly known as the Newport International Hostel, has been a cherished accommodation in Newport, Rhode Island, since its inception in 2002, welcoming travelers from around the globe. After a successful run as a hostel, it transitioned to offer private rooms starting in summer 2022, ensuring continued hospitality in the city famed for its music festivals and historical charm.

The founder, Merrilee Zellner, was inspired by the Newport Jazz Festival and the need for budget-friendly lodging in the area, leading her to create a welcoming space for guests. Though the hostel doors have now permanently closed, the guesthouse continues to honor its legacy while providing a comfortable and memorable stay for visitors.
